Welcoming the National In Bloom Judges to Our Bee Garden

Categories :

We were delighted to welcome the Britain in Bloom National Judges as part of this year’s Congleton in Bloom competition. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to showcase all of the hard work, creativity and learning that has taken place through our outdoor projects.

Our Back-to-Back Garden was created around the theme of bees, supporting our Eco and Sustainability curriculum while helping the children develop a greater understanding of the important role bees play in our environment. Throughout the project, the children explored how bees help plants to grow through pollination, why they are essential for biodiversity, and how we can all help to protect them.

The children were incredibly proud to present the garden to the judges, confidently sharing what they had learned about bees, explaining the different features of the garden, and showing off the beautiful artwork they had created. They also talked about the gardening skills they have developed, from planting flowers to caring for the garden as it has grown.

We were also incredibly proud of our staff member, Poppy, who presented her very first In Bloom Wheelbarrow Project. Her colourful wheelbarrow celebrated the theme of biodiversity, combining vibrant planting with artwork created by the children. It was a wonderful example of how creativity, nature and children’s learning can come together to create something truly special.

These projects have provided so many valuable learning opportunities. As part of our Eco Nursery work, the children have explored sustainability, discovered the importance of biodiversity, learned how to care for plants and wildlife, and developed a real appreciation for the natural world around them.

After the judging had finished, the children were invited to enjoy a lovely afternoon tea at the Pavilion in the Park alongside the Congleton in Bloom team and the national judges. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet members of the local community, celebrate everyone’s hard work, and even spend time with the Mayor.

We are incredibly proud of all the children for the enthusiasm, confidence and knowledge they shared throughout the day. Their passion for nature and caring for the environment shone through, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to the Congleton in Bloom team, the national judges, and everyone who continues to support our Eco Nursery journey. We can’t wait to see what exciting projects we create next!
