What a wonderful week we have had learning all about the people who help us in our community! We have been busy exploring different roles through dressing up, role play, creative activities, and lots of lovely conversations.

Throughout the week, the children had the opportunity to talk about the different people who help us every day, including doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, builders, postal workers and teachers. We discussed what they do, where they work and how they help other people.

๐Ÿ‘— Dressing Up & Role Play

Our role-play area was transformed into a busy community! The children loved choosing different costumes and pretending to be the people they had been learning about. We saw lots of fantastic doctors, firefighters, police officers and builders busy helping others.

Through our role play, the children developed their communication and language skills, as well as their imagination and confidence. It was lovely to hear them using new vocabulary and creating their own stories and scenarios together.

๐ŸŽจ Arts and Crafts

We also got creative with lots of people-who-help-us themed arts and crafts. The children enjoyed making pictures and models inspired by different community helpers. They explored a variety of materials, colours and textures while developing their fine motor skills.

We talked about the uniforms and equipment that different helpers use, giving the children opportunities to think about why certain tools are important for particular jobs.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Talking About Our Community

During group discussions, we shared our own experiences of meeting people who help us. The children talked about visits to the doctor, seeing firefighters, receiving post and noticing police officers and builders in our local community.

It has been wonderful to see the children beginning to understand that everyone has an important role to play and that people work together to help keep our communities safe, healthy and happy.

โค๏ธ A Big Thank You!
